What We Do

Daytime Newborn Care Specialist

Similar to Overnight Newborn Care Specialist in their scope of practice and quality of care, though role may vary/adapt to fit needs of infant/family during the day versus night.  Although a newborn is usually asleep an equal amount during the day as during the night, (about 8 ½ / 8 ½ hr ratio) an NCS may not need to rest and therefore can help with a variety of daytime needs.  A newborn care specialist is a highly specialized and trained childcare provider who focuses on the care and wellbeing of the newborn.  We will help establish good feeding and sleeping habits. We are familiar with the behaviors, appearance, and general care of the newborn.  An “NCS” goal is to establish healthy feeding and sleep patterns and often has experience working with preemies and multiples.  The “NCS” works hard to support a family’s values, educate and upbuild the parents, and keep up to date in the latest information and studies in newborn care.  We can recognize abnormal symptoms and can help troubleshoot many common issues in infants.  A Newborn Care Specialist knows the limits of their scope of practice and follows them.

I interviewed many before hiring Stephanie. I hired her because of her previous experience with all ages, extensive training, child development knowledge, caring demeanor and personality, seeing her with my children first hand. I am also very confident in Stephanie’s ability to care for babies, newborns - toddlers. She maintains a safe environment and never leaves a baby unattended. She comforts my 1 year old son to help him take naps and checks on him regularly while napping. She is responsive to his cries and interacts with him. She helped my son’s vocabulary and communication by always talking to him and also teaching him sign-language. Stephanie is extremely reliable and a great communicator. Her dedication to the position and our family has been wonderful. Suffice it to say we have been most impressed with Stephanie and hope to have her continue to work with our family.
